Who we are

The people below make Watersheds a viable vessel for conservation work. We have relationships with local organizations, agencies, and universities. Most importantly, we apply our diverse skillsets to improve our world for all of its inhabitants.

Cathie Benjamin is founder and president of Watersheds. She has worked as a GIS analyst, Flash programmer, and digital photographer for the last 12 years, using the latest technology to tell important stories for Watersheds. Cathie holds a B.S. in Biogeospatial Analysis and will earn a master's degree in Geography this spring. In her professional life, she manages the GIS computer lab at CSU Chico and works as GIS coordinator for Tehama County Resource Conservation District. Cathie is a good listener and will follow through to make sure that the job gets done. Her email is cathie@watersheds.us.

 

Randy Cousineau brings 20+ years of GIS expertise to Watersheds from a former career with the US Forest Service and from his current work as rangeland manager for Tehama County Resource Conservation District. Randy teaches GIS and geography at local colleges and is a polished presenter and trainer. Randy holds a B.S. degree in Geography and Economics from Steven F. Austin University and a master’s degree in Geography from CSU Chico. Randy is a critical thinker and always looks at the bottom line. Contact him at randy@watersheds.us.

 

Sara Brooke Benjamin has 10 years of professional experience working in the field of environmental science, education, and restoration. Sara Brooke’s academic training was in Geology (BSc) and Marine Geochemistry (MSc) at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2005 she founded Once Upon a Watershed and served for five years as Director of this successful watershed education and restoration nonprofit. Currently, she serves as the restoration monitoring technician for the City of Bellingham. Sara Brooke brings a unique depth and breadth of experience to her work with Watersheds, offering skills in project management, environmental education, and scientific field monitoring--plus unlimited enthusiasm and energy. Keith Doran has seven years of experience conducting avian research throughout the United States. He is a skilled bird bander and handler with extensive professional experience identifying birds by sight and sound. Keith earned a B.S. in Environmental Studies & Biology from Plymouth State University. Keith brings a strong passion for wildlife conservation to all of his work with Watersheds. What we do

We support efforts to save wild places, protect endangered animals and plants, and understand dwindling natural resources. Through the work of our staff and volunteers, Watersheds provides GIS and online mapping, environmental monitoring, resource assessment and management, and environmental education services.
